About the Role
Liberty Resources is seeking Per Diem Peer Specialists for its Oneida Crisis Residence Program. This community-based residential program offers a therapeutic environment for adults experiencing a mental health crisis, utilizing individuals with lived experience to provide peer support services. The goal is to stabilize crisis, support safe community reintegration, and prevent unnecessary hospitalizations.
Responsibilities
- Conducts initial assessments/screenings.
- Teaches guests to view crisis differently and utilize wellness tools to prevent future crises or decrease their intensity.
- Collaborates with Health Homes programs, hospitals, and other treatment providers to develop integrated care plans.
- Provides advocacy, Peer support, and referral linkage services.
- Uses shared experience to support clients.
- Delivers recovery-oriented services incorporating Peer Support, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed/Responsive care.
- Provides program coverage, including overnights as required.
- Rotates warm line responsibilities and/or makes follow-up calls.
- Functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Acts as a role model for program residents.
- Ensures the upkeep and cleanliness of the residence.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Personal experience as a recipient of mental health services with a willingness to share personal and practical experience, knowledge, and insight.
- Willingness to learn and practice Peer support aligned with the fidelity of the Peer Model.
- Demonstrates the values of diversity, equity, and belonging; fosters an inclusive environment that facilitates diversity.

Experience Level
- Entry level experience with ability for growth in the agency
- 1-3 years’ volunteer or work experience in the Behavioral Healthcare field preferred
Education Level
- Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in the field preferred
- Certified by the Office of Mental Health (OMH) as a Certified Peer Specialist or Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) as a Certified Peer Recovery Advocate or willingness to become certified within six months of hire.
Salary/Compensations
- $20.00 - $24.00 per hour based on certification status
