About the Role

The New Museum of Contemporary Art is seeking a full-time Youth Programs Coordinator to assist in the coordination and implementation of the museum’s new teen initiatives, including the NewMu Teen Fellowship and the Bowery Art Space drop-in program, as well as the School Partnership program.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the New Museum’s teen programs, the NewMu Teen Fellowship and the Bowery Art Space.
  • Develop curricula for the NewMu Teen Fellowship and Bowery Art Space drop-in program with oversight and collaboration.
  • Teach across programming areas on an as-needed basis.
  • Facilitate all administrative tasks related to teen programming, including scheduling, invoicing, record-keeping, and communications.
  • Support Teaching Artists with curriculum development for School Partnerships and build connections across programs.
  • Assist with creating and managing budgets for current and future programming.
  • Oversee tracking of program statistics and prepare reports for grants.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of evaluation projects.
  • Provide day-of support for all teen programs, including sessions, events, and off-site trips.
  • Work closely with other departments to coordinate all logistics for teen programs and events.
  • Cultivate and sustain relationships with local high schools and develop an outreach and recruitment strategy.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of relevant experience in arts administration, youth education, and/or teaching.
  • Experience developing programming for NYC high school students.
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of contemporary art and relevant learning theories.
  • Demonstrated success in generating and maintaining mutually respectful communication and attentive engagement with groups of diverse ages, backgrounds, experiences, and identities.
  • All candidates hired must be vaccinated with the COVID vaccine.

Skills

  • Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Mandarin language skills are a plus.

  • BA or BFA in Art History, Art Education, or related field required
  • MA or MFA, or significant equivalent experience is preferred
