About the Role

As part of the Regional Security Services team, the Healthcare Protection Officer (HPO) is responsible for the physical and personal security for members, staff, and visitors within healthcare client facilities. This includes responding to emergency situations, preserving order, and enforcing regulations. The HPO protects staff and property from theft or damage, and persons from hazards, including potential workplace violence. The role involves partnering with security and clinical leaders to identify and mitigate security and workplace violence risks.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to crimes in progress and take appropriate action
  • Make private person arrests when necessary and within policy
  • Lead Code Gray response teams
  • Lead de-escalation efforts
  • Provide a professional security presence
  • Act as a safety ambassador for the facility
  • Provide campus safety recommendations
  • Serve as the facility subject matter expert on the Prevention of Workplace Violence
  • Respond to and investigate incidents of workplace violence
  • Provide PWV training to all staff
  • Stay current on training and trends in the PWV field
  • Lead and support threat management investigations
  • Mitigate potential threats through collaboration with key stakeholders and the Threat Management Team
  • Provide Prevention of Workplace Violence training to staff
  • Train and evaluate new officers

  • Willing to travel on short notice and during non-standard working hours
  • 3+ years of security, military, or law enforcement related experience
  • Ability to pass physical aptitude test (PAT) which may include timed push-ups, sit-ups, physical agility assessment, and a life-sized dummy drag
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • California Bureau of Security and Investigative Service (BSIS) Guard Card
