About the Role
The Industrial Automation Specialist - Power & VFD position is responsible for the growth of sales and customer application pre-sales and post-sales support for a specific group(s) of automation products and services.
Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed sales goals of assigned technology offer
- Develop sales strategies, promotions, programs, and plans for sales growth
- Develop annual performance goals, objectives, and sales action plans
- Prepare periodic sales funnel and weekly sales reports
- Provide technical support for internal and external customers via on-site visit, phone, and email, including troubleshooting, finding technical documentation, and product selection
- Establish relationships with sales and customers to understand sales potential
- Ascertain customer needs through visits, phone calls, and research
- Collaborate with sales to establish joint strategies and activities
- Provide expert knowledge to Inside Sales for quoting, order entry, and expediting
- Create and present technical and commercial training for internal and external customers
- Describe or demonstrate product to customers
- Follow up on all business leads assigned by management, marketing, technical department, or supplier partners
- Acquire, use, and continuously develop personal technical knowledge
- Provide oral and/or written quotations, proposals, or estimates of prices, scope of work, terms, and delivery
- Work with prospective customers to move projects through the sales cycle to conclusion
- Properly prepare for sales calls and customer events
- Work with Purchasing on proper inventory of high-tech products and identify potential obsolescence problems
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 5+ years of equivalent experience
- Electrical distribution industry or related experience required
- Valid Driver’s License
- High School or GED required
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, blueprints, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from small groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to practice good interpersonal relations, using tact, courtesy, a positive attitude toward customers and co-workers, pleasant communication etiquette, and a general attitude as a representative of goodwill on behalf of the company at work or during company travel
- Ability to develop and present specialized instruction concerning the specific high-tech equipment in the assigned area of responsibility
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position (21% to 50%)
- Must be able to move about inside/outside office or work location (21% to 50%)
- Operates a computer and other office machinery (at least 51%)
- Must be able to crouch down to stock shelves, pick up boxes, or position oneself to maintain computers (up to 20%)
- Must be able to ascend/descend on a ladder, forklift, pallet jack, or other warehouse equipment (up to 20%)
- Must be able to use senses to effectively communicate with co-workers and clients and detect hazardous conditions (at least 51%)
- Handle up to 10 pounds (up to 20%)
- Exposed to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and/or exposure to heat and cold (21% to 50%)
- Exposed to electrical hazards; risk of electrical shock (up to 20%)
- Travels to offsite locations (21% to 50%)

- Intermediate/advanced computer skills, specifically with Excel/Outlook/Word
