About the Role
Perform day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations to assure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe and comfortable manner.
Responsibilities
- Follow specific cleaning and floor care procedures.
- Adhere to facility policies and procedures.
- Wear uniform as instructed.
- Perform assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain infection control and universal precaution practices.
- Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment.
- Perform special cleaning procedures for discharged/transferred residents.
- Keep work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects.
- Dispose of trash and bio-hazardous waste daily.
- Never leave housekeeping cart, chemicals, or equipment unattended.
- Maintain an adequate supply of housekeeping supplies.
- Keep supervisor informed of all supply needs.
- Ensure work/assignment areas and equipment are clean and properly stored.
- Report all accidents/incidents to supervisor immediately.
- Follow established fire safety policies and procedures.
- Report broken or damaged equipment to supervisor.
- Attend departmental, staff and facility meetings and in-services.
- Maintain the confidentiality of resident information.
- Honor resident’s personal and property rights.
Requirements
- Must be available to periodically work more than eight (8) hours per day or more than forty (40) hours per week.
- Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately.
- Must be able to engage in a full range of body motion including bending, stooping and stretching.
- Must be able to lift, push and move equipment in excess of fifty (50) pounds.
- Must be able to speak, write, read and understand the English language.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, co-workers, visitors, government agencies and the general public.
- Existing employees must have a satisfactory work record in their prior positions.
