About the Role
The Assistant Manager, Patient Access oversees daily operations of the Patient Access team to ensure accurate registration, financial intake, service standards compliance, and an exceptional patient experience across the system.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily Patient Access operations, staffing, productivity, and service standards compliance.
- Keep Patient Access Manager and Director informed of Service Standard goals, performance evaluations and disciplinary issues as well as other related statistical data or issues involving the Patient Access team.
- Complete regular quality audits on Patient Access team to ensure accurate patient registration, insurance verification, documentation, and charge entry.
- Lead point-of-service collections and support patient financial discussions.
- Prepare work schedules and coordinate/assign daily duties to staff.
- Ensure employees comply with attendance guidelines and timecards reflect an accurate record of time.
- Coordinate all necessary training for patient access team, coaching, and timely completion of Performance evaluations.
- Conduct quality audits, monitor trends, and implement process improvements.
- Coordinate with Nursing, Scheduling, and Revenue Cycle teams to support patient flow.
- Keep Patient Access SOPs up to date and recommend and document agreed upon process improvements to ensure maximum efficiency of team.
- Participate in a rotational on-call schedule to ensure timely leadership support needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
- Attend all mandatory educational, compliance and safety program sessions.
- Understand and demonstrate the importance of satisfying the needs of the patient/customer by interacting in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer's needs, and taking the initiative to maintain communication to provide a secure and pleasant experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum three years healthcare, billing, or revenue cycle experience.
- Supervisory experience (preferred)
- Medical terminology knowledge (preferred)
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers (i.e. use of computer keyboard).
- May require use of lifting and carrying light loads (up to 10 pounds)
- Sitting or standing/walking for long periods of time.
- Must be able to remain at a workstation and move around the workspace as needed to complete job tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation.
