About the Role
The Compute Procurement Lead is responsible for sourcing GPU capacity globally on behalf of Andromeda and its customers. This technical and commercial role involves evaluating capacity from the GPU to the data center, negotiating cost and terms with suppliers, and assessing site readiness. You will direct up to billions of dollars in compute spend and develop a view on market trends.
Responsibilities
- Source and secure GPU capacity worldwide across various providers.
- Build and maintain relationships across the supply chain, including neocloud operators, hyperscalers, and chip vendors.
- Assess capacity from the GPU to the data center, including hardware, interconnect, power, cooling, and network topology.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers for GPU-hour rates, capacity commitments, and SLAs.
- Evaluate data center sites in person to verify readiness and operator competence.
- Track and analyze compute pricing trends by GPU generation, region, and contract term.
- Develop and defend a thesis on the future direction of the compute market to inform sourcing decisions.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of GPUs, racks, interconnect, power, and cooling.
- Proven track record in sourcing scarce, expensive capacity or hardware and negotiating effectively.
- Ability to follow pricing closely and form independent market views.
- Willingness to travel regularly, often internationally and on short notice.
- Strong commercial judgment, including comfort with unit economics, TCO, and contract structure.
- A proactive, build-oriented approach to creating processes.
- Experience managing significant spend and closing deals against constraints.
