The scope includes Workday HCM, integrations, middleware, automation, AI, custom applications, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a product-focused technology collaborator for eBay's People and Payroll technology ecosystem, with Workday HCM as the system of record.
  • Contribute to the payroll technology roadmap by balancing business priorities, operational requirements, user experience, compliance, and technical feasibility.
  • Collaborate with Global Payroll, People Operations, Finance, IT, Security, and external payroll vendors to understand business needs, define requirements, prioritize improvements, and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Lead technology initiatives supporting payroll processes, including vendor integrations, employee data interfaces, time and attendance integrations, benefits and compensation data flows, tax and compliance interfaces, banking and payment integrations, and year-end payroll technology readiness.
  • Collaborate with IT integration teams and external vendors to build, develop, test, and support secure, reliable, and scalable integrations between Workday and payroll providers.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into user stories, business process flows, solution builds, business rules, success metrics, and implementation plans.
  • Partner with technical teams to build and support APIs, Workday web services, middleware solutions, and integration frameworks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes using automation, AI, and workflow orchestration tools.
  • Contribute to building custom applications through Workday Extend for specialized payroll or People Operations solutions.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, calculated fields, and data validations to improve People Team accuracy, operational visibility, and decision making.
  • Provide production support, troubleshoot integration issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement scalable corrective actions.
  • Support releases, regression testing, deployment planning, and post-production validation activities.
  • Partner with IT and Security to ensure integrations and payroll solutions meet enterprise architecture, security, privacy, and governance standards.
  • Support change management, communications, documentation, training, and adoption for new payroll technology capabilities.
  • Participate in internal audits, SOX controls, data privacy assessments, and compliance-related documentation.
  • Maintain functional and technical documentation, including requirements, solution builds, process maps, test scripts, release notes, support documentation, and integration inventories.
  • Stay informed about Workday advancements, payroll technology developments, AI functionalities, integration methods, and new HR technology options, evaluating their relevance to eBay's People technology ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of hands-on HRIS, payroll technology, enterprise applications, or related experience.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting Workday HCM, including experience with payroll-related business processes, integrations, or configuration.
  • Experience partnering with payroll vendors and multi-functional technology teams to deliver integration and system improvements.
  • Solid understanding of payroll processes, employee master data, and HR and Payroll integrations.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Experience assisting with enterprise integrations, APIs, middleware, Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Workday web services, or similar integration technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to pinpoint root causes and propose scalable improvements.
  • Strong collaborator management and communication abilities with the capacity to convey technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
  • Practical understanding of payroll regulations, SOX controls, data privacy, and information security considerations.
