About the Role

The OR Coordinator performs routine clerical tasks and schedules all exams and procedures for inpatient and outpatient surgical cases, acting as the initial patient liaison and coordinating patient care via telephone and direct contact. This role models appropriate behavior aligned with MLH's Mission, Vision, and Values.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all patient care procedures via telephone communications and direct patient contact for inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures.
  • Reviews, retrieves, enters, and maintains patient care information.
  • Performs general clerical duties for the department.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures.
  • Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Hospital or healthcare setting experience of 1-3 years.
  • Knowledge of general business operations and scheduling.
  • Basic knowledge of computer operations acquired through work experience or education.
  • Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials.
  • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and support departments.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of workflow.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of personal and sensitive data.
  • Ability to think through routine to moderately complex situations.
  • Understands DNV regulations and promotes compliance with all requirements.
  • Light work physical demands: exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • Requires close visual acuity for activities such as data analysis, transcription, viewing computer terminals, and extensive reading.
  • Job functions typically performed in general office or administrative work settings.
