About the Role

At HealthPRO-Heritage, we are seeking a PRN Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team in Millbrook, NY. This role involves providing direct resident care activities under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist, making a meaningful difference in patients' lives.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical therapy treatments to residents according to treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Assist the Physical Therapist when performing tests, evaluations, and complex treatment procedures.
• Observe, record, and report resident conditions, reactions, and responses to the therapist.
• Maintain daily treatment records and document resident progress notes.
• Assist with admission screening.
• Consult with family members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals as needed.
• Assist with the care of the physical therapy department and equipment.
• Assist the Physical Therapist with in-service programs and meetings.
• Access continuing education opportunities to maintain clinical currency.
• Comply with regulatory and professional standards and guidelines.
• Attend and participate in rehabilitation team conferences.
• Adhere to facility policies and procedures and participate in quality improvement and safety programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Understand reimbursement by various payers and allocate therapy resources efficiently.
• Demonstrate knowledge of OBRA regulations, HIPAA, Local Coverage Determination, and third-party reimbursement guidelines.
• Support the company’s commitment to Compassionate Care and project a professional image.
• Perform duties independently and recognize situations requiring supervision; assist others willingly.
• Maintain the expected productivity level for the position.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Current license or eligible for license in the state of practice.
• Experience in a setting serving the same age/type of resident population served by this facility is preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including neat handwriting.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to understand and follow the directions of the Physical Therapist and facility policies.
• Ability to safely perform prolonged standing, pushing (up to 35 lbs), lifting (up to 50 lbs independently, over 50 lbs with assistance), stooping, reaching, and balancing.
