About the Role

Pronto is seeking a seasoned mining professional to lead on-site deployments as the Field Operations Manager. This role serves as the bridge between Pronto’s technology and the customer’s mining operations, managing a technical team, ensuring customer commitments, and delivering projects to strict performance and safety criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver projects to agreed-upon performance metrics and success criteria, ensuring seamless integration of the autonomous system into the mine’s production cycle.
  • Manage the local field team, overseeing permitting, scheduling, safety compliance, and overall work performance.
  • Hold the customer accountable for their deliverables, including resource commitments, machine availability, and site/route/equipment readiness.
  • Act as the central communication hub between the customer site and Pronto HQ, providing regular progress reports and escalating blockers.
  • Work with customers to set up or modify existing operational processes for autonomous haulage.
  • Lead customer training programs on Pronto technology and manage the formal handover of the system to the mine’s operations team.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of direct mining experience with deep knowledge of mine site environments, production, and safety.
  • 5–10 years in a leadership role (e.g., Site Superintendent, Maintenance Manager, or Fleet Manager).
  • Proven track record of participating in technology rollouts (autonomy, remote operations, telematics, machine control systems).
  • Ability to traverse rugged mine sites and work in extreme environmental conditions.
  • Compliance with all site-specific health and safety requirements, including medical clearances.

Skills

  • Operational Authority: Ability to command respect on-site and influence customer decision-making.
  • Adaptability: Deep understanding of transitioning mines from manual to technology-assisted or autonomous operations.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for reporting to executive-level stakeholders.

  • $139,000 - $176,000 per year
