About the Role

Responsible for providing students with a safe and structured living environment that fosters student retention, satisfaction, achievement, and success. Oversees the daily management of residential living programs, resolves student and staff issues, and manages the non-class hour residential living environment to enhance students' independent living and employability skills.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data.
  • Ensures Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals.
  • Interviews, recommends for hire, disciplines, recommends for termination, and evaluates the performance of employees in the Residential Living Department.
  • Ensures assigned dormitory facilities are organized, clean, safe, and conducive to student achievement and success.
  • Coordinates staff coverage to ensure student areas are supervised.
  • Ensures all staff adhere to rest and meal break requirements.
  • Fills staff vacancies in a timely manner.
  • Employs sound time-management and delegation skills.
  • Holds staff accountable for producing quality work, develops staff for career progression, and disciplines staff that fail to meet goals.
  • Provides required/supplemental training for new and current employees.
  • Effectively motivates, empowers, and requires staff to perform their job responsibilities.
  • Motivates and manages staff to work effectively, creates a supportive work environment, recognizes staff accomplishments, and proactively addresses staff performance concerns.
  • Conducts social development training, including independent living skills and leadership training.
  • Oversees student-led programming, including the Centers Student Government Association.
  • Provides residential students with comprehensive and individualized case management, ensuring student progress, retention, and completion of the Job Corps program.
  • Establishes supportive/mentoring relationships with students and provides personal counseling.
  • Collaborates with Guidance Counselor to conduct Evaluations of Student Progress.
  • Routinely evaluates and documents student performance using the case management system.
  • Contributes to the Center's culture by treating students with care and respect, assisting students in achieving personal and career goals, and ensuring students feel safe and welcomed.
  • Coordinates staff coverage to ensure student areas are supervised, including maintaining an active list of substitute staff.
  • May be responsible for Center Shift Operations.
  • Produces quality work/assignments in a thorough, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Maintains appropriate personal attendance, accountability, and work productivity standards.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and organizes assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.
  • Understands and applies job knowledge to effectively complete all required job responsibilities.
  • Proactively maintains the skills required to perform job duties.
  • Mentors, monitors, and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
  • Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population.
  • Takes swift and appropriate action and positively influences student behavior.
  • Shows respect and courtesy to students and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior.
  • Provides quality programs and services for students and ensures that quality is maintained and student needs are met.
  • Pursues improvement and enhancement of programs and services.
  • Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contributes meaningfully to group efforts.
  • Provides quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.
  • Provides transportation as required.
  • Effectively articulates thoughts and ideas.
  • Identifies problems, analyzes causes, and evaluates appropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions.
  • Follows up to ensure prompt/appropriate action is taken and that problems are corrected.
  • Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students.
  • Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer/Shift Manager, including assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments and positions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in program management and direction with substantial experience working with youth.
  • Must possess a valid in-State Driver’s License and meet the Company insurability requirements.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in working with youth student supervision (Job Corps or similar setting preferred).
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Passion for youth development and creating a positive impact.
  • Sound time-management and delegation skills.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
