About the Role
The Childcare Counselor is responsible for the direct supervision and monitoring of youth in a non-secure setting, ensuring their safety and security. The counselor assists youth with daily tasks, routines, hygiene, and meal preparation.
Responsibilities
- Ensure children are provided with a clean and safe environment.
- Take residents to school and assist with homework.
- Monitor residents involved in activities.
- Monitor residents throughout shift by ensuring residents are always in sight.
- Inform Residence Manager of any problems.
- Complete the Safety Crisis Management training satisfactorily.
- Manage the transportation of youth to and from court and all other destinations.
- Manage the preparation of food and monitor residents at mealtimes.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and yearly trainings as designated.
- Prepare regular written reports, in the form of Logs and Critical Incident Reports.
- Perform all necessary activities assigned to further the agency’s mission.
Requirements
- Regularly required to stand; walk, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; talk and listen, and taste or smell.
- Frequently required to walk.
- Occasionally required to keep balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to use a computer and learn software programs.
- Required to operate a fax, copier, scan, and other office equipment.
- Needs to be able to speak, read and write fluently in the English language.
- Must be able to write in the English language using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.
- May frequently lift 0-25 lbs.
- May occasionally lift 25-50 lbs.
- May rarely lift over 50 lbs.
- May frequently push/pull 0-25 lbs. of force.
- May occasionally push/pull 26-45 lbs. force.
