About the Role

The Department Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective operations of their assigned department. This role involves overseeing a range of activities to maintain high standards and enhance the customer shopping experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee scanning outs, inventory management, recovery, price changes, planogram sets, and department cleanliness.
• Adhere to the indoor merchandising guide for consistent department and signing standards.
• Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels through stock counts and replenishment.
• Ensure the department is neat, organized, and visually appealing.
• Coordinate and execute price changes accurately and efficiently.
• Manage the implementation of playbook features and planogram sets.
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and orderliness within the department.
• Provide exceptional customer service using the customer engagement model.
• Provide support at the front end by processing transactions or loadouts.
• Use general office equipment.
• Operate handheld devices, forklifts, pallet jacks, ladders, and other retail equipment.
• Participate in cross-training for flexibility in various departments.
• Actively participate in learning initiatives such as training programs, workshops, and webinars.
• Provide friendly, proactive, and professional internal and external support.
• Demonstrate behaviors that exemplify Rural King’s Values.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of retail experience with knowledge of a specific department.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to actively listen, ask relevant questions, and provide thorough responses.
• High level of adaptability in response to changing priorities.
• Demonstrated experience applying a flexible mindset to navigate ambiguity.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address issues.
• Ability to remain composed and focused during high-pressure situations.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to meticulously review and analyze information.
• Comfortable navigating computer systems and software.

• Flexibility with hours: ability to work a 40-hour workweek with varied hours, days, nights, and weekends.
