About the Role
Northwest Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Licensed Veterinary Technician to join their team. This role focuses on providing high-quality patient care, exceptional client service, and professional growth within a compassionate and positive workplace culture.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures.
- Provide compassionate, attentive nursing care for patients.
- Safely handle and restrain patients using low-stress techniques.
- Obtain thorough patient histories and record vital signs accurately.
- Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments.
- Perform venipuncture, sample collection, and IV catheter placement.
- Assist with radiographs, laboratory testing, and diagnostic procedures.
- Support surgical and dental procedures, including preparation, monitoring, recovery, and instrument care.
- Monitor patients and communicate changes in condition to the veterinarian.
- Educate clients about medications, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and preventive care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and patient documentation.
- Keep treatment and examination areas clean, stocked, and organized.
- Collaborate with teammates to maintain an efficient and positive hospital workflow.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician.
- A genuine passion for pets and high-quality veterinary care.
- Strong animal-handling and patient-care skills.
- Clear, compassionate communication with clients and teammates.
- Ability to remain organized and calm in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive, collaborative, and team-first attitude.
- Commitment to continued learning and professional growth.
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping.
- Confidence supporting examinations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures.
- An understanding of anesthesia is a plus.
- A willingness to laugh, have fun, and occasionally join a midday dance party.
