About the Role
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Data Science Consultant to deliver advanced analytics for identifying resiliency risks, gaps, and performance insights. This role translates complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership, builds models, and runs analyses to improve resiliency outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex initiatives using advanced analytical, statistical techniques, algorithms, or models to generate actionable insights, trends, and recommendations with broad impact.
- Review and analyze complex business, operational, or technical challenges requiring in-depth hypothesis generation and analysis.
- Make decisions in complex situations requiring analytical expertise to resolve abstract business issues and lead work teams.
- Collaborate and consult with peers and management to drive recommendations and strategies based on data-driven insights.
- Execute complex analytical experiments and create innovative statistical models to solve abstract business problems.
- Interpret and analyze data using advanced modeling methods and programming to recommend solutions and influence business decisions.
- Consult with peers on data science best practices, methods, and tools.
- Communicate actionable insights and recommendations in a digestible format to a non-technical audience.
Requirements
- 5+ years of data science experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- Minimum 5+ years of industry experience in developing Machine Learning and Statistical Models from idea generation to implementation.
- Proven industry experience in natural language processing and text mining.
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and experimental design.
- Proficient in programming languages commonly used in data science (Python, R, Spark, etc.).
- Practical knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings/vector search, document extraction tools (Azure Document Intelligence, Textract, DocAI), LangChain/LlamaIndex, and production MLOps.
- Strong SQL experience.
- Working experience with Visualization tools using PowerBI and/or Tableau.
- Expertise in developing and deploying distributed ML Models on a cloud environment.
- Experience in GenAI/LLM (Claude, Gemini, and Llama 3.x).
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to effectively form stories through data analysis.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
