About the Role

The Corporate Development Principal serves as a strategic business development leader responsible for identifying, evaluating, and driving strategic alliances and growth opportunities that support CSAA's long-term business objectives. This role combines business development, strategic analysis, cross-functional leadership, and program execution to bring new business opportunities from concept through implementation. It also supports high-priority enterprise efforts by coordinating cross-functional work, organizing complex initiatives, and driving execution across multiple business areas.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and advance strategic alliances, vendor relationships, and new business opportunities that drive growth, profitability, operational efficiency, and Member value.
  • Serve as the primary intake lead for new alliance and vendor opportunities across CSAA, guiding initiatives from initial discovery through executive recommendation.
  • Proactively identify new market opportunities by cultivating relationships with prospective organizations, professional associations, and key external contacts.
  • Conduct market research, competitive intelligence, and opportunity assessments to identify emerging trends and areas for strategic growth.
  • Develop financial analyses and strategic business cases that support executive decision-making.
  • Coordinate cross-functional evaluations of new business opportunities to ensure alignment with company priorities and strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with Product Strategy & Development (PS&D), Legal, Claims, Marketing, Finance, Technology, Operations, and other business functions throughout the evaluation and decision-making process.
  • Leverage existing business relationships, prior evaluations, and organizational knowledge before engaging prospective organizations.
  • Support due diligence, contract negotiations, implementation planning, governance activities, and executive approvals as appropriate.
  • Maintain transparency into the strategic opportunity pipeline while driving continuous improvement of governance, evaluation, and decision-making processes.
  • Support strategic company initiatives by coordinating work across multiple business functions, managing dependencies, tracking deliverables, and driving execution.
  • Develop project plans, executive communications, decision materials, and recommendations that enable informed business decisions.
  • Organize complex initiatives involving diverse teams while maintaining focus on outcomes, accountability, and execution.
  • Adapt quickly to evolving priorities while effectively managing multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Facilitate cross-functional execution by tracking decisions, risks, dependencies, and deliverables to keep initiatives aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Develop clear, concise presentations, business cases, briefing materials, and executive recommendations.
  • Present strategic recommendations, progress updates, and key insights to leadership audiences.
  • Build strong working relationships across business functions to encourage collaboration, informed decision-making, and shared ownership of outcomes.
  • Represent CSAA professionally with prospective organizations, vendors, and other external contacts, serving as a trusted ambassador while cultivating long-term business relationships.
  • Bring diverse teams together by facilitating discussions, documenting decisions, communicating next steps, and maintaining momentum toward successful execution.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment that values innovation, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Share knowledge, identify process improvements, and help strengthen organizational capabilities that support future partnership success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Seven or more years of progressive experience in business development, strategic partnerships, program management, corporate strategy, product strategy, sales, consulting, or related business functions.
  • Experience within the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
  • Demonstrated success identifying, developing, evaluating, and advancing strategic partnerships or complex business opportunities.

Salary/Compensations

  • The national average salary range for this position is $152,010.00-$168,900.00.
  • The starting pay range for this position across all the states we hire in is $152,010.00-$202,550.00.
  • Opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 12% of eligible pay.
