About the Role

Seeking a highly capable Senior Inland Marine Claims Adjuster to handle complex Builder’s Risk, Contractor’s Equipment, and Motor Truck Cargo claims. This role involves working within defined authority, influencing financial outcomes, and collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Adjudicate highly complex inland marine claims at defined authority levels under limited technical direction.
  • Analyze claims forms, policies, endorsements, client instructions, and other records to determine coverage.
  • Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing involved parties.
  • Solve complex problems requiring an understanding of broader issues.
  • Manage litigated files, set accurate reserves, and negotiate complex settlements.
  • Identify, assign, and coordinate expertise resources for case resolution.
  • Communicate emerging trends to senior management and underwriters.
  • Drive files to optimal financial outcomes through disciplined case management and problem-solving.
  • Maintain clear, professional documentation and correspondence.
  • Prioritize workload effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Demonstrate a passion for strong claim management.

Requirements

  • 5+ years adjudicating commercial inland marine claims with exposures of $100,000+.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain a NY General Adjuster License (or reciprocal TX/CA) within 3 months.
  • Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Good business acumen, understanding insurance company operations and profitability impact.
  • Proven ability to consistently produce and deliver expected results.
  • Ability to achieve success through adversity and be solution-focused.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to consider all options.
  • A desire to continually update skills through continuing education and self-development.
  • Demonstrates inner strength and courage to do the right thing.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills.

Salary/Compensations

  • Richmond Pay Range: $101,184 - $119,782
  • Albany and Chicago Pay Range: $111,384 - $132,498
  • Los Angeles Pay Range: $121,482 - $144,636
