About the Role

Visa's Global Corporate Development team partners with regional and business executives to evaluate, analyze, and prioritize M&A and strategic investments. The Senior Director, Global Corporate Development and M&A will report to the Vice President, Head of Global M&A.

Responsibilities

  • Shape Visa’s strategy by identifying industry trends and maintaining relationships with external partners.
  • Source, negotiate, structure, and execute strategic acquisitions across all Visa geographies and businesses.
  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic investments.
  • Support and shape Visa’s growth strategy through identification, assessment, and execution of potential mergers, acquisitions, investments, and joint ventures.
  • Investigate industry trends and specific opportunities for growth within Visa’s existing businesses and expansion into new areas.
  • Conduct rigorous analyses, including valuation and business case modeling, to provide detailed guidance on potential acquisitions and investments.
  • Partner with Corporate Development & M&A Leaders and the Business on strategy development and realization.
  • Identify corporate development opportunities in a progressive, systematic, and routine fashion.
  • Support business unit coverage to maintain an ongoing flow of ideas aligned with their objectives.
  • Track pipeline, market outreach, and deal flow for ongoing discussions with key business sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Manage detailed diligence processes, partnering closely with Visa colleagues and external advisors.
  • Identify clear rationales and risks associated with proposed transactions through communication with key stakeholders.
  • Assist with Visa's global industry engagement and deal/investment relationships with Investment Banking, PE, and VC firms.
  • Serve as a Visa interface with partner companies and coordinate investment and other activities.
  • Contribute to all of Visa’s M&A activities, including team member development, Corporate Development and M&A practices, and company culture.
  • Develop working relationships grounded in trust, collaboration, respect, and open assistance with teammates.
  • Travel is expected as part of the role.

Requirements

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD.
  • 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with financial modeling, valuation, and synergy analysis.
  • Meaningful experience overseeing all aspects of a deal, from idea generation to due diligence and negotiations.
  • Ability to travel for projects (anticipate up to 25%).
  • Proven track record in leading M&A transactions and strategic investments as a Corporate Development, Investment Banking, or Private Equity professional.
  • Strong understanding of the payments, fintech or tech sectors with a combination of U.S. and international experience.
  • Strategic, analytic, and innovative thinker with creative problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership with ability to influence executive stakeholders, manage cross-functional teams, and lead multiple transactions simultaneously.
  • History of managing, mentoring, and developing junior talent.
