About the Role

This critical role provides comprehensive support for regular, terminal, and isolation cleaning, ensuring compliance with hospital standards in specialty areas like Operating Rooms and CATH Labs. The role involves managing waste removal, using UV light devices, and changing waste containers. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential for interacting with staff, patients, and families.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the full range of restroom cleaning and complete patient room cleaning following established protocols.
  • Follows infection prevention protocols and selects appropriate chemicals for cleaning tasks.
  • Performs routine cleaning of walls, doors, glass, furniture, and equipment.
  • Manages the proper removal of trash and linen according to waste stream guidelines.
  • Consistently uses correct personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper lifting techniques.
  • Complies with all hospital and department rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Follows protocol for the proper and safe use of Ultra Violet Light equipment.
  • Replaces waste container liners and ensures proper tie-off.
  • Exhibits a positive disposition when interacting with staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Practices customer service and interpersonal skills when interacting with patients, families, guests, and co-workers.
  • Supports efforts toward World Class Service.
  • Works with special project teams as assigned by supervisor.
  • Participates in performance improvement projects as required.
  • Documents daily assignments and adjusts to staff shortages.
  • Uses the Epic system to maintain patient flow.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand simple instructions in English.
  • Must complete the Departmental Training Program within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
