About the Role
Presbyterian Hospital's Nursing Administration is hiring a Patient Mobility Tech, a specially trained clinical staff member designated to provide observation of patients at risk for safety.
Responsibilities
- Provides safety and security support to the patient(s) while hospitalized, primarily by being aware, alert, present, and alerting nursing staff of concerns.
- Assists the client to the bathroom and around the unit ONLY if the client is able to ambulate and needs only minimal support and steadying.
- If client is in bed, assists client with needs and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Engages patient in activities according to the plan of care, including talking with, reading to, and providing companionship.
- Provides competent physical/therapeutic care and ADLs consistent with job title/role.
- Performs appropriate documentation in the medical record as outlined by the Charge Nurse.
- Remains in constant attendance of the client.
- Arranges scheduled breaks with the RN.
- Adheres to all Safety Companion policies.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
- Performs other functions as required.
Requirements
- High School/GED
- Less than 1 year experience in Patient Observation Attendant (formerly known as sitter) services or equivalent.
- BLS required at time of hire.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Preferred: 1+ years experience in direct patient care.
- Certified Nursing Assistant, Nurse Tech, or other clinical support staff related to inpatient hospital setting preferred.
