About the Role

The Director, Strategy Advancement provides data-based strategic direction to identify and address business issues and opportunities, offering business intelligence and strategic planning support. This role requires an in-depth understanding of how organizational capabilities interrelate across functions or segments. The Director leads initiatives to analyze complex business problems, interprets data, and produces recommendations. They ensure policies align with corporate vision, select and develop personnel, and make decisions related to program implementation and strategic plan execution. Specifically, this role leads the development, design, and execution of Humana's Wellness Rewards and Loyalty Strategy to attract, engage, and retain members, driving behavior change and improved health outcomes. It oversees the design of member-centric reward programs, engagement models, incentives, and partnerships, identifying market trends and translating insights into differentiated strategies. The Director champions a loyalty- and rewards-centric mindset, fosters a shared understanding of engagement drivers, and establishes a discipline of measurement and performance management. They align stakeholders across various teams to deliver high-impact programs and provide thought leadership to accelerate innovation and position Humana as an industry leader.

Responsibilities

  • Provides data-based strategic direction to identify and address business issues and opportunities.
  • Provides business intelligence and strategic planning support for business segments or the company at large.
  • Leads initiatives to analyze complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources.
  • Interprets and produces recommendations and plans based on company and external data analysis.
  • Ensures that policies and procedures align with corporate vision.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel ensuring efficient operation of the function.
  • Implements strategic plans, drives goals and objectives, and improves performance.
  • Provides input into functions strategy.
  • Leads the development, design, and execution of Humana's Wellness Rewards and Loyalty Strategy.
  • Oversees the design of innovative, member-centric reward programs, engagement models, benefits, incentives, and partnerships.
  • Identifies emerging market trends and best practices.
  • Develops scalable reward structures that align member needs with enterprise objectives.
  • Champions a loyalty- and rewards-centric mindset across the organization.
  • Establishes a discipline of ongoing measurement, optimization, and performance management.
  • Aligns stakeholders across Wellness, Marketing, Digital, Product, Clinical, and Operations teams.
  • Provides thought leadership, strategic guidance, and operational support to accelerate innovation, drive execution, and position Humana as an industry leader in wellness engagement, rewards, and loyalty program design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 8 or more years of technical experience, including reward and/or loyalty program experience in either health care, financial services, travel or hospitality
  • 5 or more years of management experience
  • Experience with economics of reward programs from liability, expense and ROI contribution
  • Solid understanding of applicable metrics for measuring and managing customer loyalty and retention
  • Prior experience leveraging customer insights to define strategies and target outcomes, including research, journey mapping, consumer
  • Data-driven marketing experience, especially to drive engagement, loyalty and program value
  • Experience with health insurance Sales, Market and Provider interactions
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and diplomacy skill, and strong informal influencing skills.
  • Track record of working cross-functionally; illustrating the ability to lead projects, appropriately exert influence, build consensus/alignment across teams and achieve measurable results without direct authority.
  • Progressive work experience in the Health Insurance industry
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
