About the Role
Provide on-site and remote direct therapeutic services to pediatric patients (ages 5-26) and their families, and adults. Services include assessments, treatment plans, and discharge planning. Engage with staff and families in the urgent care center to provide information, education, brief consultations, and referrals for mental health issues. Be available for virtual and in-person consultations. Proactively promote mental health services, provide timely information, and offer education and direction to staff and families. Make referrals to PM Mental Health services or other needed services as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Provide pediatric and adult mental health therapy as part of a multi-disciplinary behavioral health team.
- Provide highest quality therapy services to patients.
- Participate in clinical team meetings with Urgent Care and MH staff.
- Maintain weekly scheduled therapy appointments.
- Complete required documentation and paperwork including clinical assessments, treatment planning, and updating patient medical records within 48 hours of patient visits.
- Utilize standardized tools (PHQ9, GAD7 etc.) to identify patients that can benefit from ongoing MH services and help families navigate treatment.
- Make rapid assessments and follow through on recommendations in a timely manner.
- Assist staff in UC to identify patients demonstrating mental health needs.
- Assist families and staff who verbalize concerns to determine appropriate assessment and next steps.
- Professionally represent PM Mental Health when meeting with local providers, hospitals and payers.
- Make independent clinical decisions with a minimum of guidance.
Requirements
- Must be independently licensed in state of practice.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Understanding the roles of the healthcare team.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Deep understanding the psychosocial aspects of illness and health.
- Experience of community facilities and resources for discharge planning.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong crisis intervention skills.
- Excellent short-term counseling skills.
