About the Role

Our Resident Assistants support residents by assisting with essential living skills and activities, ensuring a safe and healthy living environment, and upholding the dignity and respect of each individual. This position is located at our Lighthouse Residence in Schenectady.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine rounds and update communication log, addressing issues as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and legible reports and records, including daily communication logs, medication logs, and incident reports.
  • Assist residents with living skills such as recreational games with an educational component, personal hygiene, and securing personal items like medications and valuables.
  • Attend to the resident garden.
  • Perform daily maintenance and upkeep of the residence and grounds, including general housekeeping, lawn mowing, and snow removal.
  • Engage with Veterans in the agency’s Transitional Housing program.

Requirements

  • Experience providing services to individuals with chronic medical conditions, behavioral health issues, and/or substance abuse history.
  • Knowledge of local agencies and programs serving homeless and low-income populations is helpful.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid computer and data entry skills.
  • Collaborative and solutions-focused team member.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution with a professional, positive demeanor.
  • Able to set priorities, coordinate care plans, and adapt in fast-paced environments.
  • Resourceful and proactive with strong planning, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to work the assigned shift regularly.
  • Ability to work hours beyond the normally scheduled work hours is preferred.
  • Ability to climb stairs, bend, and lift 40 pounds.
  • All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of background checks, including DMV record search if driving is required for the position.
