About the Role
The Technical Specialist is responsible for project managing the design, planning, and implementation of audio systems for live events, acting as a team leader for onsite departmental teams.
Responsibilities
- Assist project managers in determining audio equipment needs and technical solutions for events.
- Determine and secure necessary resources, including internal, external, freelance, and supplier resources.
- Contribute to technical drawings using Vectorworks.
- Design PA systems for events using simulation software (e.g., D&B ArrayCalc).
- Communicate necessary planning documentation (e.g., patch sheets, flow diagrams, equipment lists) to the delivery team.
- Operate Yamaha, DiGiCo, and Allen and Heath mixing consoles for large-scale corporate events.
- Build and tune PA Systems, including line arrays and distributed point source systems from brands like D&B, L-Acoustics, and Martin Audio.
- Coordinate, deploy, and monitor Shure and Sennheiser RF mic and IEM systems.
- Program comms systems, interfacing multiple wired and wireless systems including GreenGo, Clear-Com, and RTS.
- Ensure flawless event execution through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of audiovisual equipment.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve problems quickly.
- Comply with all company security and safety measures.
- Report all health and safety issues to the appropriate management.
- Ensure equipment is secure from theft and/or damage when in use.
- Provide excellent service and strive to exceed customer expectations.
- Maintain positive client relationships through effective communication.
- Collaborate with internal teams on event solutions to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Foster the hotel/venue/client relationship.
- Create an atmosphere that fosters the development of technical and leadership skills in other employees.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to technical, sales, and operations team members.
- Perform advanced work with operations team members pre/during/post event.
- Supervise and direct other technicians during an event.
- Assist with proper preparation, security, storage, transportation, and maintenance of equipment.
- Perform inventory and forecasting of equipment needs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of field experience in a specialty area.
- 3-5 years of customer service or hospitality experience.
