About the Role

This General Store Manager is responsible for achieving financial targets, analyzing and developing business, implementing strategic company initiatives, building highly motivated teams, and fostering strong cross-functional relationships. The role involves overall management of store staff to drive sales and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve store sales and profit budgets through sales motivation and expense control.
  • Develop a selling culture and model exemplary selling techniques and customer service.
  • Achieve store payroll budget goals through effective staffing and sales productivity.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and retain store staff.
  • Create and monitor weekly schedules to maximize talent, payroll, and store coverage.
  • Ensure associates are trained in all job responsibilities, including salesmanship, customer service, clientele, company history, product knowledge, visual merchandising, and basic store operations.
  • Identify and train employees for development and growth within the store and retail organization for succession planning.
  • Organize regular store meetings to communicate expectations and priorities.
  • Motivate the team to foster a positive, friendly, and service-oriented work environment.
  • Develop action plans to correct negative trends and achieve store goals.
  • Track and ensure Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics are communicated and achieved.
  • Ensure sales associates develop and maintain long-term clients through customer service, client books, and store/community events.
  • Maintain product presentation to company standards.
  • Ensure accuracy in product transfers, receiving, and customer repairs.
  • Implement visual and merchandising directives according to company standards.
  • Analyze product sales performance and inventory needs, communicating findings to supervisors and the retail team.
  • Develop local outreach to build the customer base and increase sales.
  • Partner with marketing and advertising to support initiatives that build customer awareness and increase traffic and sales.
  • Supervise the enforcement of company cash handling, loss prevention, store funds, and deposit procedures.
  • Complete all administrative responsibilities promptly and accurately.
  • Identify and discuss operational issues with the Regional Manager.
  • Maintain an efficient and organized office filing and in-store communication system.
  • Achieve store inventory shrinkage budgets.
  • Utilize store inventory audits for consistent inventory control.
  • Ensure product is replenished and restocked daily.
  • Regularly use maintenance and visual merchandise checklists to ensure store standards are met.
  • Prepare and send nightly business recaps.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and customer management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic math skills sufficient for completing orders, calculating inventory, and managing transactions.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Outstanding work ethic with a commitment to achieving targeted objectives.
  • Willingness to work days, evenings, weekends, and up to 50 hours per week.
