About the Role
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment throughout a corporate office building. This role performs daily cleaning, sanitation, and light maintenance duties to ensure the facility meets company standards and provides a welcoming environment for employees, clients, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize offices, conference rooms, lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, kitchens, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste according to building procedures.
- Restock restroom and kitchen supplies, including soap, paper products, and cleaning materials.
- Clean windows, glass doors, mirrors, and other interior glass surfaces.
- Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, and carpet extractors.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions to the Facilities Manager.
- Assist with meeting room setup and breakdown as needed.
- Respond promptly to spills, emergencies, and special cleaning requests.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed.
- Follow OSHA regulations, building safety policies, and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Support seasonal or special projects, including deep cleaning and floor care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One to three years of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial or corporate office environment preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and safe chemical handling.
- Ability to operate custodial equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach overhead.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Push or pull carts and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
