About the Role
Reporting to the CHRO, the Regional Lead will balance global consistency with local execution, setting the agenda for regional policy and best practices, and contributing to company-wide strategy as a member of the People & Culture SLT. This role serves as the go-to for Australian and Polish employees and managers, providing coaching, guidance, and handling employee relations matters. The role also involves project management for global programs like ESG Strategy and managing regional facilities teams to shape employee experience. Collaboration with Global Business Partner, People Ops, and Talent Acquisition teams is key to influencing culture and company growth.
Responsibilities
- Translate global HR strategy into region-specific plans reflecting local market, cultural, and legal context.
- Support leaders through advice, coaching, and solutions-focused problem-solving, including coaching managers on relevant employment legislation in Australia and Poland.
- Manage performance processes end-to-end (PIPs, probation reviews, exit conversations, etc.) and drive high performance through coaching, feedback, and clear accountability.
- Handle complaints, legal, and risk matters including redundancies, providing timely and accurate advice across diverse People management activities.
- Stay current on legislative requirements, policies, and agreements, ensuring full compliance with local laws and company/Code of Conduct guidelines.
- Diagnose operational gaps and risks, developing and maintaining local policies and implementing best practices that align with business goals.
- Own global programs including ESG strategy as member of P&C SLT.
- Partner with People Ops on payroll, onboarding and offboarding.
- Analyse People metrics and trends (e.g. quarterly onboarding/offboarding data) to inform People strategy and drive continuous improvements.
- Develop strategy for engagement and culture-building for the regions supported in close partnership with Workplace ops managers, championing Nearmap's culture and values.
Requirements
- 10+ years as a P&C Business Partner/HR Manager/Senior HR advisor, with a focus on employee relations, ideally in a fast-paced growth industry.
- Solid understanding of Australian employment legislation, with experience managing complex ER issues from identification through resolution.
- Proven experience diagnosing organisational needs and rolling out programs that improve capability, performance, and culture.
- Strong relationship-building and coaching skills across diverse stakeholders, balanced with confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
- Excellent written, verbal, visual communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks, maintain accurate documentation, and consistently meet deadlines with high attention to detail.
- Confident with a wide range of IT systems, including advanced Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to quickly learn new tools.
