About the Role

Arc Herkimer is seeking a dedicated and proactive Quality Assurance Specialist / Safety Officer to ensure excellence across programs and facilities, empowering people with disabilities and enriching lives.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits, reviews, and assessments to ensure compliance and quality standards.
  • Assist with HIPAA privacy and security compliance.
  • Support agency-wide quality improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct investigations and reviews.
  • Interpret regulations and help departments develop effective compliance processes.
  • Provide training and guidance on quality and compliance.
  • Strengthen systems supporting services for individuals.
  • Lead and coordinate the agency-wide safety program.
  • Chair the Safety Committee and promote a culture of safety.
  • Conduct and oversee safety inspections.
  • Track, analyze, and report safety data and trends.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, OPWDD, and other applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate safety training programs.
  • Oversee safety equipment inspections and maintenance.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness, disaster planning, and workplace safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Human Services or related field and three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field and one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • High School Diploma/GED and five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Workplace safety experience required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, OPWDD regulations, and compliance standards preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and implement practical solutions.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, investigations, or reviews.
  • Agency-approvable driver's license required.
