About the Role

This new role will help launch and grow ALC’s individual giving program to support the organization’s mission and sustainability. The position offers an opportunity to shape the vision, strategy, and systems for individual giving, strengthen donor engagement, deepen relationships, and expand the donor base statewide and nationally.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive individual giving strategy.
• Identify, build, manage, and grow a portfolio of individual donors and prospects.
• Partner with the Chief Development Officer to establish systems and set strategy for the individual giving program.
• Expand ALC’s individual donor base beyond the Bay Area.
• Engage ALC’s donor community, including alumni.
• Coordinate donor engagement and deepen supporter connection to ALC’s work.
• Prepare donor cultivation and solicitation materials.
• Support donor meetings, events, and other engagement opportunities.
• Track donor activity and maintain accurate records.
• Partner on gift processing, database management, and administrative functions.
• Monitor progress toward fundraising goals.
• Contribute to a development culture grounded in collaboration and accountability.
• Represent ALC on functions, complete special projects, and perform other duties as assigned.
• Lead, manage, and mentor the Director of Alumni Relations and Development Associate.
• Develop and manage budget and resources to support fundraising objectives.
• Promote a healthy culture of collaboration and accountability.

Requirements

• At least eight (8) years of experience in individual giving, major gifts, annual giving, or related fundraising work, preferably in a nonprofit, advocacy, or social justice organization.
• Demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors.
• Strong relationship-building skills.
• Experience helping to build or grow fundraising strategies, systems, or programs.
• Strong project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfort working collaboratively across teams and with senior leaders, board members, and external supporters.
• Experience using donor databases and moves management systems.
• Strong judgment, initiative, and the ability to work thoughtfully in a new role with significant ownership and autonomy.
• Demonstrated commitment to racial justice, immigrant justice, and working in alignment with communities directly impacted by systemic inequality.
• Familiarity with the Bay Area philanthropic landscape is a plus.
• Experience with statewide or national individual fundraising is valued.
• Knowledge of or connection to Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities is a plus.
