About the Role

The Clinician will provide mental health support for students and families in two Bronx Community Schools. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering individual and group counseling, staff workshops, and program enrichment. The role involves offering mental health guidance to teachers and staff, and participating in treatment team meetings.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide weekly individual and group counseling services to address youth behaviors and mental health concerns.
• Oversee and execute all therapeutic requirements for the program.
• Facilitate mental health workshops for parents and families.
• Provide teachers with mental health assistance and resources.
• Offer crisis intervention and de-escalation to students.
• Maintain clinical records and progress notes, submitting monthly updates.
• Contribute to weekly school team meetings with mental health and educational updates.
• Assist parents with challenges through home visits, parent training, and referrals.
• Attend and participate in educational trainings and workshops pertinent to school social work.
• Perform any other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years counseling experience with children.
• Experience working in a school setting.
• Experience with Evidence-Based Models.
• Strong interest in working with children and families of diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to use a computer and learn software programs.
• Ability to operate office equipment such as fax, copier, and scanner.
• Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
• Ability to write in English using correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Regularly required to stand; walk, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; talk and listen, and taste or smell.
• Frequently required to walk.
• Occasionally required to balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• May frequently lift 0-25 lbs., occasionally lift 25-50 lbs., and rarely lift over 50 lbs.
• May frequently push/pull 0-25 lbs. of force, occasionally push/pull 26-45 lbs. force, and rarely push/pull over 45 lbs.
• Required to sit, stand and walk throughout the work day.
• May occasionally stoop.

• May occasionally crouch.
