About the Role
The Kids Café Program provides a safe, drug-free environment, academic assistance, and life skills training for school-aged children to foster their development into productive community members.
Responsibilities
- Represent the Salvation Army in accordance with the Eastern Territory Employee Manual.
- Supervise children according to OCFS regulations (Section 414).
- Implement and supervise assigned activities by the Kids Café Program Director or Site Assistant.
- Complete and implement lesson plans for activities.
- Assist children with homework.
- Monitor meals and teach appropriate table manners.
- Implement the Kids’ Café Program Health Plan, including daily health checks, basic first aid, and familiarity with emergency procedures.
- Utilize Kids Café Program forms and policies correctly.
- Manage behavior for children under care.
- Fulfill responsibilities as a mandated reporter in NYS.
- Adhere to the Staff Supervision Policy.
- Maintain cleanliness in children's designated areas.
- Be available and flexible to assist in other areas.
- Plan educational, recreational, and special event activities.
- Maintain inventory of materials and supplies for activities.
- Complete all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Work well with school-age children.
- CPR certification.
- Good communication skills, including verbal and written.
