About the Role

The Commercial Finance team plays a critical role in our business, partnering with senior leaders to provide clear and accurate planning and forecasting. This role will provide valuable guidance and challenge on key decisions, offering detailed insight into performance and its drivers to help the function optimize performance and achieve growth targets. This 12-month fixed-term contract supports the growth of customer propositions like SuperSaveClub, Credit Monitor, Savings by MSM, and Investments by MSM.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a strong trading process to deliver advanced insight and drive action to improve commercial performance.
  • Ensure the Customer team is appraised of financial performance, KPIs, and the implications of tactical and strategic options.
  • Provide insight into total marketing performance and individual channels (PPC, SEO/organic, CRM, Brand, App).
  • Partner with channel owners to evaluate marketing efficiency and returns (ROI/ROAS, LTV, payback) to guide budget allocation.
  • Support evaluation of Brand and above-the-line investment using appropriate measures.
  • Support the coordination of cross-vertical marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure issues and opportunities are recognized, analyzed, and escalated to leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement of Customer trading insight with Data and BI teams.
  • Act as a strategic partner to the Customer team, focusing on value creation and growth for propositions.
  • Help the business make informed decisions in response to changing trading conditions.
  • Develop, build, and challenge business cases and unit economics for projects and initiatives.
  • Conduct effective post-investment reviews.
  • Support quarterly reforecast and budget planning processes.
  • Provide in-month forecasting with appropriate detail and adapt to changing business requirements.
  • Deliver insightful analysis and commentary on forecasts and budgets.
  • Embrace AI and automation tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Claude) to enhance commentary, anomaly detection, scenario modeling, and reporting, applying professional judgment.
  • Manage agreed controls over commercial decisions and planning/investment processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement of reporting and forecasting processes.
  • Act as a data steward to ensure reporting integrity and collaborate with Data and BI teams to resolve incidents.
  • Review management accounts for commercial reasonableness and agree on significant judgments impacting commercial results.

Requirements

  • Professionally qualified ACCA, CIMA, or CA/ACA.
  • Ability to analyze detailed performance data to identify key trends without getting lost in complexity.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting key business decision-making.
  • Commercially astute with the ability to identify, understand, and mitigate risks.
  • Able to operate successfully within a demanding, fast-moving digital business.
  • Able to identify key commercial levers and influence commercial solutions at senior financial and non-financial stakeholder levels.
  • Naturally builds strong working relationships as a trusted advisor, able to challenge and develop thinking.
  • Comfortable challenging the business on complex, data-driven decisions.
  • A strong focus on the customer, ensuring great outcomes.
