About the Role
The Early Head Start (EHS) Teacher promotes the social, emotional, intellectual, language, and physical development of children ages infant-3 years in a safe and supervised educational environment. The role involves engaging parents in program aspects and establishing goals for school readiness. The teacher ensures the classroom curriculum aligns with research-based child development and early childhood educational principles. This is a 12-month position.
Responsibilities
- Promote the social, emotional, intellectual, language, and physical development of each child, ages infant-3 years, in a safe and supervised educational environment.
- Involve parents in every aspect of the program, working with them to establish both long and short-term goals that will assure the necessary readiness outcomes needed for school success.
- Assure that the classroom curriculum adheres to research-based, sound child development and early childhood educational principles.
Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver's license and insured automobile.
- Ability to travel and attend overnight training.
- Must obtain a physical and TB skin test.
- Must pass all criminal history background checks.
Skills
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Work Type
- 12-month position
Experience Level
- Three (3) months of experience working with children infant to 3 years preferred.
Education Level
- CDA with a focus on infant and toddler development required.
- Associate or Baccalaureate Degree in Early Childhood Education with infant and toddler development coursework, or degree in a related field with coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education with infant and toddler development; preferred.
