About the Role

This role offers varied, high-impact work, exposure to senior management, and the chance to influence the future direction of Europe Protection and wider PL Re. It requires strong actuarial judgement, commercial awareness, and the ability to explain risks, results, and balance sheet movements clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Protection AA&I team’s strategic priorities and strengthen understanding of Protection financial results.
  • Analyse and explain quarterly financial results, including attributing and explaining key result movements, using scenarios and sensitivities to explain financial dynamics, and providing clear insight and proposed management actions for Protection results and balance sheets.
  • Identify and assess value-add opportunities for the Europe Protection business, grounded in a strong understanding of its economic performance.
  • Support the scoping, delivery, and implementation of process, system, and methodology enhancements.
  • Manage stakeholders effectively by building effective networks and communicating with clarity, and developing strong relationships across Protection and wider DBS.

Requirements

  • Qualified actuary (or equivalent actuarial experience)
  • Experience working in life insurance or reinsurance, ideally with exposure to the UK Protection market
  • Proven ability to investigate and explain financial movements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with actuarial models
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Prioritises effectively under tight deadlines
  • Stakeholder management and business engagement
  • Learns quickly, shows initiative and adapts with flexibility and resourcefulness.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of actuarial reporting and financial result analysis
  • Experience supporting actuarial or finance system implementations
  • Exposure to Oracle Fusion ERP and/or Oracle EPM solutions
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS 4, Solvency II, Bermuda/Economic Capital or related reporting frameworks
  • Experience supporting UAT and business readiness activities
