About the Role
Capital One is seeking a highly motivated and experienced principal associate to support external communications for its Premium Products and Experiences line of business. This role will be instrumental in managing media inquiries, developing reports, supporting proactive media relations, supporting executive thought leadership, and vetting business engagements for reputation risk. Working across teams, you will help deliver impactful campaigns and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders. This position requires exceptional judgment, strong project management skills, an ability to build relationships in a highly matrixed environment, and a sustained focus on delivering results. Creative problem-solving, an ability to read the data and the room, and a passion for storytelling are all critical to success in this role. Empathy, teamwork, and a sense of humor are essential.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and execution of proactive communication, talent and tastemaker campaigns and team operations under the guidance of senior team members.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to execute program elements.
- Liaise with media on in-bound media inquiries.
- Create materials such as media messaging, pitches, media lists, briefing books, and social posts for executives.
- Provide project management support horizontally across the team, including developing workback plans, keeping project trackers, and distilling meetings into actionable next steps.
- Assist with the development of measurement and media coverage reports.
- Coordinate contract deliverables and logistics for talent and tastemaker partners.
- Manage and optimize communications reporting and analytics.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or military experience.
- At least 3 years of external communications experience.
- Public relations or communications experience in financial services, technology, or consumer brands.
