About the Role

Discord is seeking a Product Designer to join the Growth team, focusing on shaping how users discover, set up, and stay connected on the platform. This role is crucial in enhancing the user experience across notifications, off-platform interactions, onboarding, and web discovery, ensuring these elements feel distinctly like Discord.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end initiatives across Growth, including new notification types, onboarding flows, off-platform surfaces (invites, embeds), and web experiences.
• Design across all platforms (iOS, Android, Desktop, Web).
• Create production-ready specs and high-fidelity prototypes with a focus on both craft and velocity.
• Influence scope and strategy in partnership with PM, engineering lead, and cross-functional teammates.
• Utilize data and research to inform design decisions, collaborating with research and data science teams.
• Design systems considering the interplay between discovery, onboarding, off-platform touchpoints, and re-engagement.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively, sharing work early and often, and building cross-team relationships.
• Drive projects autonomously, managing time and deliverables, and escalating blockers when necessary.

Requirements

• 3+ years of product design experience designing consumer-facing digital products (2+ years with exceptional craft and potential considered).
• Strong visual design foundation with demonstrated aesthetic taste, including typography, color, hierarchy, and composition.
• Comfortable working with design systems.
• Solid interaction design skills, including intuitive flows, information architecture, and designing for complex, multi-step experiences.
• Ability to design systems, not just screens.
• High proficiency with Figma and prototyping tools (Protopie, Framer, Principle, etc.).
• Experience shipping products collaboratively in cross-functional teams (engineering, product management, research, data science).
• Ownership mindset with a bias toward action.
• Ability to guide product vision through design explorations, documentation, and presentations.
