About the Role
The tutor will lead whole-class steel pan sessions, helping pupils develop their rhythm, ensemble awareness, listening skills, confidence, and general musicianship. MX Pans gives children the opportunity to learn through practical, inclusive music-making, while building the foundations for a broad and exciting musical future. We are looking for someone who is confident delivering engaging group lessons, able to manage a primary classroom setting, and passionate about helping children experience the joy of playing music together.
Responsibilities
- Lead whole-class steel pan sessions
- Help pupils develop rhythm, ensemble awareness, listening skills, confidence, and general musicianship
- Deliver engaging group lessons
- Manage a primary classroom setting
- Help children experience the joy of playing music together
- Deliver MX Pans and Pan tuition to Year 5 and Year 6 pupils in a Lambeth primary school
- Be added to our team of sessional music tutors and offered other work as it becomes available, which may include further whole-class ensemble tuition, peripatetic teaching, and teaching at our Saturday Music Centre
- Share commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people
Requirements
- Experience teaching steel pans in schools, community settings, or whole-class ensemble contexts would be especially welcome
- Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and references will be taken
