About the Role

As a Director on the Accounting Team, you will help build the Company’s Tax Function from the ground up. This is an excellent opportunity to both build and execute on behalf of a growing IPP, while growing professionally within a dynamic team.

Responsibilities

  • Own all aspects of Tax (Local, State, and Federal) for the Company, including compliance, structuring, forecasting, and reporting
  • Lead the annual ASC 740 income tax reporting process, including annual provisions, deferred tax asset/liability analysis, valuation allowance evaluation, and uncertain tax positions.
  • Lead preparation of federal and state tax returns and partnership K-1s in conjunction with external tax preparers
  • Own the structuring of and compliance with State and Local tax matters, including Sales & Use Tax and Property Tax and manage audits/inquiries/relationships with IRS and state/local tax authorities
  • Support Capital Markets and Legal in the structuring and negotiation of tax monetization transactions
  • Own tax reporting to tax equity and project finance counterparties in existing financings
  • Enhance existing tax control processes and assist in the creation of new controls as the Company continues growing
  • Support Development and Commercial in analyzing federal and local incentives and impacts on projects under development, including assisting in PILOT negotiations with local municipalities
  • Build the Tax Department over time by recruiting, onboarding, training, and supporting additional team members
  • Work on special projects as necessary, including (but not limited to) prevailing wage and apprenticeship compliance, ITC qualification analysis, and withholding tax compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • 7-10 years of progressive tax experience required
  • Qualified candidates will have experience in Renewable Energy, Traditional Power, or Infrastructure development, with some experience supporting tax monetization transactions.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organization abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple complex processes or long-term projects simultaneously
  • Experience managing and developing employees is preferred
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience presenting to management or external capital providers
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to work in the United States is a requirement.

  • CPA designation or Masters in Taxation strongly preferred
