About the Role
Responsible for ensuring all events are set up accurately and meet client expectations. Oversee cleaning and sanitation programs to maintain a clean and safe property. Greet guests warmly and provide proactive assistance. Communicate effectively with clients and team members to support seamless event execution. Lead the Venue Operations team, upholding high standards of service, cleanliness, and presentation. Collaborate closely with Events, Banquets, Sales, and culinary teams to support planning and departmental operations.
Responsibilities
- Hire, train, supervise, and schedule the Venue Ops Team, including counseling, discipline, training, and direction.
- Attend BEO meetings to understand event requirements and communicate changes.
- Oversee daily events and assign work responsibilities to staff.
- Manage and lead the Venue Operations team to ensure efficiency, quality, cleanliness, organization, and proficiency.
- Manage linen orders and rental lumber, ensuring accurate par levels and timely placement.
- Meet and greet clients on event days and assist with their needs.
- Create and maintain a regular cleaning program for restrooms, floors, and other areas.
- Track and record the completion of daily housekeeping tasks.
- Develop and deliver housekeeping training to staff on cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Assist in maintaining and controlling housekeeping equipment.
- Direct and manage all aspects of housekeeping, including scheduling, staffing, and quality control.
- Manage team members to ensure accurate set-ups, venue cleanliness, organization, and client satisfaction.
- Manage the rental linen ordering and storage process.
- Create weekly schedules and complete corresponding payroll.
- Write party reports for each event for future reference.
- Proactively manage AV Production load-ins and load-outs, ensuring building protection.
- Maintain ongoing communication with overnight teams and work overnight shifts to increase operational knowledge.
- Maintain communication with the Banquet Event Manager during events to assist as needed.
- Conduct performance evaluations of team members.
- Assist the Director of Venue Operations with the direction and maintenance of the cleanliness program.
- Provide hands-on support for events staff, including detailed task lists and quality assurance.
- Set standards and prioritize work, establishing daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance schedules.
- Monitor team performance, product quality, and production flow, fostering continuous improvement.
- Order all linen and lumber, ensuring par levels are inventoried, orders are placed, deliveries are checked, and credit is received for unopened linen.
- Complete daily notes for weekly meetings, including problems, suggestions for efficiency, and new ideas.
- Ensure party reports are written for each event for future information.
- Collaborate with the sales team and clients to determine power, lumber, staging, lighting, linen, load-in, and storage needs.
- Work closely with the Director of Banquet Services to ensure smooth event execution.
- Open and close the facility as needed.
- Enforce safety procedures and cleanliness standards throughout the facility.
- Undertake special projects and assignments for continuous improvement.
- Maintain the area in a clean condition at all times.
- Perform all reasonable requests by direct report as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
- Minimum two years of management experience in Event Services, Convention Services, Housekeeping Management, or Catering Services within a hotel or catering facility.
- Ability to notice and recognize incorrect details related to the venue and cleanliness items and ensure projects are completed to Pier Sixty standards.
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all other departments regarding needs to ensure product quality and cleanliness.
- Ability to create a productive, efficient, and enjoyable work environment by motivating staff, implementing new procedures, generating new ideas, and instilling company values.
- Ability to supervise a large staff and accomplish goals in a timely manner.
- Effectively conduct meetings and maintain communication between team members and management.
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
- Ability to collect accurate information from customers to resolve conflict.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Team Members, management, clients, and vendors.
- Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations and cleanliness-related items.

- Ability to safely operate complex machinery such as genie lift and golf cart.
- Ability to read and write English to read recipes and communicate with team members.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and push and pull up to 150 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and stoop on a consistent basis.
- If Driver License acquired, must ensure safe driving and transport of food, beverage, and paper products and adhere to annual driver license checks.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to use all property equipment and tools.
- Maintain professional appearance and behavior.
- Know and follow all Pier Sixty emergency, safety, and health procedures.
- Follow policies and procedures in training manuals and Team Member handbook.
- Follow the sign-in and out procedure for keys as necessary.
