About the Role

The Bakery Porter role specifically focuses on maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary environment to support smooth bakery operations, assisting team members, and ensuring equipment and work areas are ready for daily production.

Responsibilities

Ensure customers receive friendly, polite, and knowledgeable service; greet them personally and thank them for shopping at Adams.
Answer the phone with a friendly greeting and assist with basic customer inquiries.
Set up baked goods in the morning; stretch, round, and seed breads for bake-off.
Receive and check deliveries against order tickets for accuracy.
Perform daily and weekly cleaning duties, including dishwashing, sanitizing equipment and prep areas, and cleaning mixers, ovens, and grease traps.
Bag and dispose of trash and recycling properly; keep all floors clean, dry, and mopped.
Keep all areas of the department clean and organized, including the sales floor, counters, coolers, prep, and storage areas.
Assist the bakery team as needed and always prioritize helping customers over any task.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Safely operate and use commercial dishwasher; if applicable.
Consistently move, adjust, and position items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to remain in a stationary position for duration of shift.
Occasionally ascend/descend a stepstool, stepladder, and/or ladder.
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers for duration of shift.
Communicate with others to exchange information.
Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks including in tight and confined spaces.
Exposure to cold temperatures periodically during your shift.

Skills

Knowledge on Bakery items and offers.
Present excellent customers service to all customers at the Bakery counter.
Willingness to work collaboratively and communicate with a team of co-workers and managers.
Exhibit enthusiasm, positivity and/or knowledge about Adams’ products and quality.
Ability to demonstrate and set the example for Adams’ culture and values.
