About the Role
The Respite Shift Supervisor assists the Building Supervisor in daily program operations and plays an integral role in training and supervising Respite Youth Supports (RYS). In the absence of the Respite Building Supervisor, this role assumes administrative and supervisory responsibilities to ensure uninterrupted program operations. The supervisor provides support, direction, and assistance, aiding in decision-making and problem-solving as issues arise.
Responsibilities
- Uphold, support, enforce, and monitor all OMH regulations and Agency policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate understanding and adherence to Children’s Crisis Residence models of care through interactions with youth and staff supervision/coaching.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to lead Children’s Crisis Respite programs regarding safety and security issues.
- Assist the Respite Building Supervisor with staff scheduling, including granting time off and filling vacant positions.
- Provide emergency and planned shift coverage for absent staff.
- Lead program routines accurately and in a timely manner according to the posted schedule.
- Facilitate and coordinate admissions, which can occur at any time.
- Lead programmatic tasks such as incident reporting, documentation, and accountability systems, as well as youth needs support.
- Provide supervision to Respite Youth Supports.
- Ensure the program facility is in ideal condition, including aesthetics and security of doors and windows.
- Perform other duties as assigned, which may change with or without notice.
Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to sit, squat, crouch, and stand for elongated periods.
- Ability to lift arms over head in an upward reaching motion.
- Ability to walk up and downstairs up to several times per day.
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance, free from major infractions and acceptable to the insurance carrier.
- Varying levels of travel may be required as determined by departmental needs.
