About the Role

Penguin Young Readers is seeking a Manager to join the Marketing team. This role focuses on developing and executing innovative, data-driven marketing campaigns to maximize sales potential for high-performing backlist titles, ranging from board books to young adult. The position aims to extend the lifecycle of successful books, identify opportunities to sustain and accelerate momentum, and drive discoverability across various channels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans for priority backlist and strong-selling titles.
  • Identify opportunities to extend the commercial life of books through advertising campaigns, seasonal promotions, retailer programs, creative partnerships, and trend-driven activations.
  • Analyze marketplace trends, consumer behavior, competitive activity, and sales data to inform campaign decisions.
  • Partner with Sales teams to support retailer initiatives, promotional opportunities, merchandising programs, and account-specific marketing efforts.
  • Partner with Publicity to amplify media, author, and event opportunities that can drive sustained sales.
  • Monitor title performance and proactively recommend tactics to drive continued growth.
  • Leverage social media, influencer partnerships, content marketing, email marketing, and community engagement initiatives to expand audience reach.
  • Coordinate with brand, education, and library teams when applicable to support broader market opportunities.
  • Track and analyze campaign performance, sales trends, and key marketing metrics.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of marketing experience, preferably within book publishing, media, entertainment, or consumer brands.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns that drive sales growth.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting sales and consumer data.
  • A genuine interest in children’s and young adult books, authors, readers, and marketplace trends.
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities.
  • Experience managing budgets and prioritizing spend based on business impact.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new applications and systems.
