About the Role

The University of Rochester is seeking a dedicated individual to provide specialized support, oversight, and leadership within a pharmacy setting. This role involves training, troubleshooting, process improvement, and ensuring compliance with regulations, contributing to the department's efficiency and the overall mission of Meliora - Ever Better.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains training materials specific to assigned specialty area.
  • Coordinates and actively participates in the training of new technicians.
  • Ensures technician competency and develops competency programs.
  • Maintains documentation of completed training and competency.
  • Provides feedback to staff for performance improvement.
  • Develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Identifies opportunities for waste reduction and efficiency maximization.
  • Implements new procedures in conjunction with supervisors.
  • Ensures technicians follow proper processes and procedures.
  • Provides data and metrics to management to monitor process efficiency.
  • Creates and maintains downtime procedures.
  • Troubleshoots common software or hardware issues.
  • Handles complex issues and triages as necessary.
  • Contacts and coordinates with vendor field technicians or support.
  • Notifies appropriate staff of issues impacting operational workflow.
  • Troubleshoots issues with pharmacy technology including eRecord, Pyxis, and CII Safe.
  • Assists with handling workflow issues in all areas of the department.
  • Provides coverage to specialized area on a routine basis.
  • Acts as a role model for team members.
  • Maintains skills in other areas outside specialty area for staffing flexibility.
  • Serves as a resource for other technicians.
  • Completes other assigned tasks appropriate for certified pharmacy technicians.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a related practice area preferred.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of pharmacy applications required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage many details with accuracy, work under pressure, and maintain professional attitude.
  • Must be of good moral character, including application of the ICARE values.

Experience Level

  • Certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy technician certification program (Currently PTCB) upon hire required
  • Completion of ASHP accredited training program or equivalent experience as a pharmacy technician upon hire required

Salary/Compensations

  • $23.51 - $31.74 per hour
