About the Role

Fora is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and empower cross-functional sprint teams within the Finance pod. This role involves building the financial operating system for travel entrepreneurs, managing the complete lifecycle of bookings and commissions, and ensuring transparency and timely payments for advisors. The manager will collaborate with Product, Design, and Operations to set strategy, guide architecture, and drive business outcomes in a high-stakes financial system.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Product and Design to shape product strategy and ensure teams build high-impact solutions.
Improve team efficiency and engineering velocity for rapid value delivery without compromising quality.
Guide architecture and technical decisions, balancing trade-offs and anticipating future issues.
Drive operational excellence in reliability, performance, cost-efficiency, design consistency, and maintainable code.
Promote high team engagement, employee happiness, and continuous skill development.
Mentor engineers, provide constructive feedback, and support direct reports.
Perform hands-on technical work, including code reviews, debugging, and implementation.
Participate in hiring processes to attract top engineering talent.

Requirements

4+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles (e.g., Engineering Manager or Tech Lead) in the consumer-facing fintech space.
1+ years of experience managing managers.
8+ years of experience in web systems development.
Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, manage performance, and build motivated teams.
Strong technical acumen with experience in architectural decisions, addressing technical debt, and setting engineering standards.
Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Proven recruiting experience, capable of evaluating candidates effectively.
Collaborative, empathetic leadership style emphasizing humility, openness to feedback, accountability, and continuous learning.
Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working in an early- to mid-stage startup environment.
First-principles thinker who evaluates problems and chooses appropriate solutions.
Authorization to work in the United States is required.
