About the Role
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a cross-functional sprint team within Fora’s Finance pod. This team is responsible for building the financial operating system for travel entrepreneurs, transforming a fragmented system into one where advisors are paid accurately and seamlessly. You will collaborate with Product, Design, and Operations to drive impactful business outcomes and create solutions that allow advisors to focus on curating travel experiences. Your work will involve operating at scale within a critical financial system where speed, accuracy, and reliability are paramount.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product and Design to shape product strategy and ensure the team builds high-impact solutions.
- Improve team efficiency and engineering velocity, delivering value quickly without compromising quality.
- Guide architecture and technical decisions, balancing trade-offs and anticipating future issues.
- Drive operational excellence in reliability, performance, cost-efficiency, design consistency, and code maintainability.
- Promote high team engagement, employee happiness, and continuous skill development.
- Mentor engineers, provide constructive feedback, and support direct reports.
- Perform hands-on technical work, including code reviews, debugging, and implementation.
- Participate in hiring processes to attract top engineering talent.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles (e.g., Engineering Manager or Tech Lead) in the consumer-facing fintech space.
- Proven track record of driving successful product deliveries and team growth.
- 8+ years of experience in web systems development.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, manage performance, and build engaged teams.
- Strong technical acumen with experience in architectural decisions, addressing technical debt, and setting engineering standards.
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Proven recruiting experience, capable of evaluating candidates effectively.
- Collaborative, empathetic leadership style emphasizing humility, openness to feedback, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working in an early- to mid-stage startup environment.
- First-principles thinker who evaluates problems carefully and chooses appropriate solutions.
- Authorization to work in the United States is required.
