About the Role
The Individual Giving and Donor Engagement Manager is responsible for growing and retaining the individual giving program through direct mail, digital strategies, and exploring new engagement techniques. This role focuses on donor recognition, upgrading mid-level donors, and expanding engagement opportunities through storytelling, project management, and data-informed decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Execute a comprehensive annual giving strategy to acquire, retain, reactivate, and upgrade individual donors.
- Create and manage a multi-channel fundraising calendar including direct mail, email, digital campaigns, and peer-to-peer initiatives.
- Coordinate campaign logistics, timelines, content development, and internal collaboration for successful execution.
- Monitor campaign performance and provide recommendations for improvement based on donor behavior and trends.
- Collaborate with program and communications staff to identify impactful stories for donor support.
- Ensure fundraising communications align with brand standards and best practices.
- Develop and coordinate donor engagement opportunities like site tours, giving circles, and virtual town halls.
- Manage and grow donor giving circles with meaningful engagement and stewardship plans.
- Support donor recognition efforts and ensure timely acknowledgement of contributions.
- Partner with the Donor Database Coordinator for accurate records, campaign tracking, and reporting.
- Utilize Salesforce reporting and AI tools for donor segmentation, campaign tracking, and follow-up.
- Leverage emerging technologies to analyze donor data for retention and lifetime value improvement.
- Assess individual donor histories and capacities to identify mid-level donor upgrade opportunities.
- Track and evaluate donor retention, recurring giving, and upgrade performance metrics.
- Contribute to a culture of innovation, learning, and continuous improvement within the Development team.
- Attend on-site and off-site events as appropriate.
- Stay current on annual giving best practices and utilize data for strategic recommendations.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of nonprofit experience with proven ability to engage constituents.
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills for persuasive, donor-centered communications.
- Impeccable commitment to servant-leadership and high standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit fundraising management and best practices.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret donor data and evaluate campaign performance.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Intellectual curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally.
- Comfort utilizing emerging technologies and AI-enabled tools.
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal skills, judgment, discretion, and professionalism.
- Self-starter, highly accountable, detail-oriented, and results-driven.
- Experience with donor databases, Salesforce preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
