About the Role
Union College seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Statistics to begin September 1, 2027. This role balances teaching and research expectations, supporting the growth of Statistics, Data Analytics, and Financial & Actuarial Mathematics programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong theoretical background, practical experience, and the ability to teach statistical thinking and data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Develop courses in their area of expertise that may contribute to other programs at Union, especially interdisciplinary programs.
- Play a key role in growing Statistics, Data Analytics, and Financial & Actuarial Mathematics programs.
- Teach practical statistical thinking and analysis of data for a specific purpose and within a specific context.
- Conduct research at an undergraduate institution, potentially involving undergraduate students.
- Create an inclusive classroom environment for all students.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in statistics by September 2027.
- Strong teaching credentials in undergraduate statistics.
- A record of scholarly achievement suggesting a continuing commitment to scholarship in any sub-fields within statistics.
- Strong theoretical background in statistics.
- Practical experience in addressing real problems with statistics.
- Finalists for hire will undergo a background check that includes education, employment, and criminal convictions.
