About the Role
The Business Analyst will gather and document requirements from key business users, ensuring software development aligns with these needs. This role involves collaborating with business owners and project managers to plan, analyze risks, define business cases, and establish acceptance criteria.
Responsibilities
- Work with the product owner and subject matter experts to define requirements (user stories) for new functionality using BDD/Gherkin style acceptance criteria.
- Perform detailed analysis of business requirements and scope subsequent activities for new application functionality.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies with the Development team and resolve ambiguities during development.
- Own requirements for the team, present stories and journeys, and facilitate requirements workshops.
- Create application documentation for end-users and technical staff.
- Identify and remove impediments to prevent distractions that interfere with the team's ability to deliver the sprint goal.
- Develop a thorough understanding of business needs and related business processes.
- Collaborate with other BAs and teams to define end-to-end or integration requirements across multiple project teams and systems.
- Manage stakeholders, build relationships, and facilitate requirements gathering and delivery with internal clients.
- Work with QA and the project team to validate acceptance criteria, modify requirements, and participate in estimation and iteration planning.
- Support Product Owners, Developers, and Tech Leads as necessary.
- Assist with user acceptance testing as necessary and appropriate.
- Assist the team in making appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition.
- Improve team productivity in any way possible.
- Receive demos from developers to ensure requirements are met.
- Record minutes and action points for Technical and Business Calls.
Requirements
- Significant commercial experience in delivering enterprise solutions.
- Experience with most aspects of the software delivery lifecycle, including gathering detailed functional requirements, breaking down complex requirements into user stories, capturing acceptance criteria, building release plans, managing the backlog, running showcases, incorporating user feedback, and documenting system capabilities, business processes, and support handover.
- Experience with systems integration and migration delivery.
- Familiarity with the technical aspects of software development, including understanding programming language capabilities and limitations, and knowledge of testing (System, Unit, Integration, Interface).
- Experience with APIs and the build approach in the context of microservices and external clients.
- Understanding of business process modelling, data modelling and analysis, and OO design principles.
- Pro-active in exploring options and consensus, with the ability to defend opinions on building great software.
- Successfully applied Agile/XP/Scrum practices.
- Experience introducing Agile techniques and coaching teams to apply them effectively.
- Flexible working practices.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including listening, written and verbal communication, client-facing/consulting skills, and stakeholder management.
- Experience of a complex, back-end heavy, technical project (nice to have).
- Good understanding of the Music Publishing or Record Company business (nice to have).
