About the Role
Supports the coordination of activities involved with procuring goods and services for the agency. Assists in preparation of purchase orders and bid requests, reviews bid proposals, and helps negotiate contracts. Maintains computerized procurement records and is responsible for purchasing materials and supplies.
Responsibilities
- Ensures raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies and advertising for Agency/Vocational programs are procured according to Agency purchasing and procedures.
- Maintains relationships between Agency staff and Vendors for the agency and vocational programs.
- Reviews requisitions and confers with vendors to obtain product or service information.
- Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
- Estimates values according to knowledge or market price.
- Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- Participates on committees and special assignments as assigned.
- Attends and satisfactorily completes all required in-services.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Business with 1-3 years’ experience or High School diploma and 3-5 years’ experience in purchasing, bookkeeping and/or computer input.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and computer skills; specifically Excel and Word.
- Ability to deal with the public.
- Solid decision making skills and strong business ethics required.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
